Your video
Videos are analysed on your device and are never uploaded anywhere. Neither the video, nor its file name, nor the text read from it leaves your device. Text recognition, spelling, face and sound analysis run on the device, with libraries that come with the app.
What does not exist
There are no accounts, cookies or ads. The only analytics are the anonymous counts and crash reports described below, which stay off until you allow them.
What is stored on your device
- Your settings (language, appearance, selected platforms and text languages, and the usage stats switch) in the app's local storage (the browser's local storage in the web version).
- Your personal dictionary (the words you added).
- Your Pro status, if you have Pro: in the store apps the purchase state cached from RevenueCat; in the web version the license key, device name and status.
- Language packs and analysis models you installed, in the browser's IndexedDB.
All of this stays on your device. It is removed when you clear the site data or uninstall the app.
Network requests
- The app's own files, from the server that hosts it.
- Language packs and analysis models, from the packs host, only when you request them (a language, or the face or sound check that needs them). Only the files you requested are downloaded. Separately, once a day, when online, the app asks packs.metras.app whether the platform rules changed; nothing about you or your video is sent. The host sees your IP address, like any web server.
- Lemon Squeezy, only when you activate or re-validate a Pro key in the web version: your key, device name and IP address are sent. See Lemon Squeezy's own policy for how it handles them.
- Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics (Google), in the store apps only: anonymous usage counts and crash reports as described below, only if you allowed them. Google sees your IP address while receiving them, like any server.
- RevenueCat, in the store apps only, when the Pro screen loads prices or you buy or restore: your purchase receipt from Apple or Google and a random anonymous app user id, plus your IP address as with any server. RevenueCat validates the purchase and tells the app whether Pro is active. There is no account or login, and we do not send your name, email or any video data.
- The support email, only if you write to it. We receive what your message contains.
Purchases (store apps)
Purchases are handled by Apple or Google; we do not see payment details. To check that a purchase is valid, the app uses RevenueCat (a purchase-management service): the SDK sends your purchase receipt and a random anonymous app user id to RevenueCat. This data is not linked to your identity, is used only to unlock Pro and prevent fraud, and is not used for tracking or advertising. It is not collected in the web version.
Anonymous usage stats and crash reports
Off by default: nothing is collected or sent until you tap "Allow" on the choice the store app shows after your first completed check. With your consent, the app counts five things of its own: that it was opened, that a first check was completed, that the Pro screen was viewed (and from where in the app), that a trial was started, and that a purchase was made (monthly, yearly or lifetime). Firebase Analytics (Google), which processes the data on our behalf, also records its own standard automatic events: first open, session start and engagement, app updates, and in-app purchases (with the product id and price). Google derives a coarse location (country and region) from your IP address on its servers. Firebase assigns a random installation id to the app on your device to count installs and sessions; it is not linked to you, we set no user id or user properties, and we do not read or use an advertising id (Firebase's advertising id collection and ad personalization are switched off). Nothing sent contains your video, its file name or its text. There is no analytics in the web version.
If the app crashes and you allowed it, a crash report goes to Firebase Crashlytics (Google): the stack trace, the app version, the operating system version, the device model and the installation id. It contains no video data, no file names and no personal information.
You can withdraw at any time: Menu, "Share anonymous usage stats". Nothing is collected or sent while it is off, and turning it off also resets the analytics data on your device and discards unsent crash reports. The data is not used for advertising and is not shared with anyone else.
Rules updates. Once a day, when online, the app asks packs.metras.app whether the platform rules changed; nothing about you or your video is sent. The host sees your IP address, like any web server.
Retention and your rights
Data on your device stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. Firebase keeps analytics events for up to 14 months and crash reports for 90 days; RevenueCat keeps purchase records for as long as they are needed to honour your purchase. We process this data with your consent (usage stats and crash reports) or to provide what you bought (purchases). You can withdraw consent at any time in the app, and you can ask us at post@mymetras.com to delete the data linked to your installation id or app user id; we answer within 30 days. If you are in the EU, you can also complain to your data protection authority (in Greece, the Hellenic Data Protection Authority, dpa.gr).
